SAP BusinessObjects Central Management Console

SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise and SAP BusinessObjects EDGE both come packaged with the Central Management Console (CMC). This is a .NET or Java Web-based environment for managing, deploying, and configuring the entire SAP Business Objects Enterprise/ Edge infrastructure. The CMC is used by SAP Business Objects  Administrators to access and configure the SAP Business Objects BI system. The CMC provides management of and configuration for the following system elements:

  • Security
  • Authentication
  • User and group creation and management
  • Object rights
  • License keys
  • Folder and Category management
  • Scheduling
  • Services/server configuration
  • Server groups (clusters)
  • Universes and data connections
  • User interface settings and preferences
  • Business calendars

Auditing

Business Objects Enterprise XI Release 3.1 includes enhanced system auditing. Improvements include a new sample audit universe to allow custom analysis, and twenty-eight new sample audit reports covering the following areas: user activity, session data, and system use. This functionality must be activated on each Business Objects Server before it can be used.

Business Objects Enterprise XI Release 3.1 includes a tool to automate the movement between development, test, and pre-production and production environments. This tool is known as the Import Wizard. The tool supports the movement of all report types, content and dependencies such as folders, categories, security and universes etc., through the different phases of the deployment lifecycle, helping to reduce system management and implementation costs.
